Nippy vs Notion
Publish a doc, or host a site?
Notion Sites is the fastest publish button in software: any page in your workspace can be on the web in seconds, edited live, with free accounts getting one notion.site address. For living documents — wikis, changelogs, docs that change weekly — that immediacy is the product, and nothing below replaces it.
The limits appear when the page is meant to be a site: everything renders in Notion’s look at Notion’s pace, and putting it on a domain of your own requires a paid workspace plan plus a separately paid per-domain add-on (as of June 2026). Nippy comes from the other direction: it hosts files. A static site — including the HTML that Notion itself can export — is served exactly as built; photo folders become galleries with a lightbox and zip downloads; PDFs and documents get clean pages; and a custom domain on any paid plan is one CNAME record with automatic HTTPS.
The trade is editing: Nippy has no live collaborative editor — content is files you stage and publish, with text and HTML editable in the browser. Documents that breathe → Notion. A site, a gallery, a download page that should look and live like yours → host it.

Which one?
An honest fork in the road.
Choose Nippy when…
- The page should read as a site of yours, not a Notion doc
- Photos and files are the content — galleries and downloads built in
- You want a custom domain without stacking an add-on on a plan
Choose Notion when…
- The content changes constantly and lives in your workspace anyway
- Collaborative editing and instant publishing matter more than presentation
FAQ
Questions, answered.
What does a custom domain cost on Notion Sites?
It requires a paid workspace plan plus a separately billed per-domain add-on (as of June 2026 — check Notion’s pricing page for current rates). On Nippy, custom domains are included in any paid plan.
Can I move a Notion page to Nippy?
Yes — Notion exports pages as HTML (and Markdown). Export, drag the folder onto Nippy, and the content is served as a real static page at your address; tidy the HTML in the browser editor if you like.
Is a Notion Site a real website?
It’s a real URL serving your content, rendered by Notion in Notion’s style. That’s perfect for docs and wikis, and limiting for portfolios, galleries or anything meant to look like its own site.
Which updates faster?
Notion — editing is publishing, instantly. Nippy stages changes and publishes them in one click, which suits deliberate sites better and living documents worse.
