The fine print is fair but real — transfers over 2 GB wait in a queue behind paying customers, and free links expire after 7 days (as of June 2026). That makes Smash the right pick for the occasional enormous hand-off where patience is cheap and the link only needs to survive the week.

Nippy is built for the opposite case: shares that are opened more than once, by more than one person, for longer than a week. Files become a page — photo folders turn into galleries with a lightbox and original-quality zip downloads, documents into tidy download pages, websites are hosted as-is — at an address that never expires and updates in place when files change. The free plan hosts one small site (25 MB); paid plans add gallery-sized space, passwords, custom domains and cookie-free analytics.

Put plainly: if the question is “how do I get this 30 GB file to one person this week?”, Smash. If it’s “how do I share this so people can come back to it?”, a transfer service is the wrong shape entirely.
