Get replies from your contact form
Updated 25 August 2026
Forms built by an AI often look finished but go nowhere. The visitor fills in their name and message, sees a “thanks, we’ll be in touch” note, and their details are discarded the moment they click. Nothing looks broken, so nobody notices — least of all the person who owns the site.
Nippy saves those replies for you automatically. There’s nothing to install, no endpoint to set up and no HTML to edit. Your form keeps doing whatever it already did: if it posts to Formspree, FormSubmit or your own script, that still happens, and a copy is saved so your replies are in one place either way. The only change to the page is a marker added to each form as it’s served, so a form added by a browser extension is never mistaken for one of yours.
Replies collect in your dashboard, under the site’s Forms tab, grouped by which form they came through. Every plan saves them and shows you how many have arrived; a paid plan opens what they say — including every reply already waiting.
Step by step
- 1
Publish your site as normal
Nothing to switch on. The first time someone opens a page with a form on it, that form appears in your dashboard under the site’s Forms tab.
- 2
Check the Forms tab
Each form is listed with its page and how many replies it has received. Open one to read them, newest first. Rename a form if the name we picked isn’t yours.
- 3
Choose what gets saved
Forms that look like a way to contact you are saved; search boxes, quizzes and sign-ins are not. That’s a guess, not a decision — every form has a switch, and so does the whole site.
Common questions
Will this change how my form works?
No. The submission is watched on its way past — never stopped, redirected or altered. If your form shows a thank-you message, it still does. If it sends somewhere, it still sends.
I didn’t turn this on.
It’s on for every Nippy site with a form, so replies aren’t lost before anyone realises they’re being lost. It changes nothing about how your site behaves, and you can switch it off per form or for the whole site at any time.
Will this fill my inbox?
No. Each form is only ever announced once, and the monthly summary is one email covering every form you have — a busy site and a quiet one generate the same amount of mail. Reply-by-reply email exists, but only if you ask for it on a specific form.
What is never saved?
Passwords, card details and file contents, with no exceptions — and any form containing a password field is left alone entirely, because that’s a sign-in rather than a way to reach you. Search boxes, calculators and to-do apps are skipped too.
Nippy found a form, but it’s a search box or a quiz.
Open the site’s Forms tab and switch it off. Everything we find is listed, and the defaults are a guess you can correct in either direction.
Will I be emailed when someone replies?
The first reply to each form is emailed to you, and after that a monthly summary covers what happened across your sites — how many people opened your links, and how many replies came in. It only arrives in months where something did. On a paid plan you can also ask for an email every time a particular form is filled in. Replies are saved either way.
I changed my form. What happens to the replies it already had?
A form is recognised by its fields, so adding or removing one makes it a new form as far as Nippy is concerned. Your settings for it carry across — if you had turned saving off, it stays off — and the Forms tab offers to move the older replies across so everything sits in one place. Nothing is moved until you say so.
My fields don’t have names. Will the replies be a mess?
Usually not. Each field is labelled from its name, then its id, then its on-screen label, then its placeholder — the first one we find. AI-generated forms nearly always have a sensible id like email or message.
My form is built with divs and a button, not a form tag.
Those can’t be seen — a browser only raises a submit event for a real form element. Wrapping the fields in a form tag is usually a one-line change, and it makes the form work better for keyboard and screen-reader users too.
Can I read replies from before I subscribed?
Yes. Every reply is saved from the start, whatever your plan — the plan only decides what you can read. Subscribing opens every reply already waiting, not just the ones that arrive next.
Which plans include this?
Saving works on every plan and nothing is dropped. Free shows how many replies each form has received. Any paid plan opens every reply, on every site, with no limit.
What should I tell people who use my form?
Add a line to your page: “Messages sent through this form are stored by our hosting provider and read only by us.”
