How long free sites stay online
Updated 19 October 2026
Free sites stay online 30 days at a time — one click in our email keeps a site online for another 30. When a free site’s 30 days are up, an email goes to the address on the account with a “Keep my site online” button. The dashboard shows how many days each free site has left, and from the email on it has the same button. Each click gives 30 days from that click.
If nobody clicks within 7 days, the site goes offline. For 30 days after that, one click brings it back; then it is deleted. Nippy sends a reminder the day before the site goes offline and an email when it does. An offline site keeps its address and its place in the plan’s site limit, and visitors see a “Site unavailable” page. Warnings follow seven days and one day before deletion; deleting the site yourself frees the place sooner.
Sites on a paid plan never expire. Upgrading takes every site on the account off the 30-day clock and brings an offline site straight back. If a paid plan ends, its sites move to the free rule with a fresh 30 days. Free sites published before this rule started are not affected, and the Free plan itself has no end date and needs no card.
Step by step
- 1
Watch for the email
At the end of each 30 days we email the address on the account. The subject names the site, for example “Keep my-page.nippy.site online”. If nobody clicks, a reminder follows the day before the site goes offline.
- 2
Click “Keep my site online”
The button opens a page on nippy.host; confirm there and the site stays online for another 30 days. No sign-in is needed.
- 3
Or keep it online from the dashboard
The dashboard shows how many days each free site has left. From the email on, click “Keep online” on the site there; on an offline site it brings the site back at once.
Common questions
What happens if I miss the email?
If nobody clicks within 7 days, the site goes offline. For 30 days after that, one click brings it back; then it is deleted. More emails follow, each with a one-click button: a reminder the day before the site goes offline, an email when it goes offline, a warning seven days before it is deleted and a last one the day before. One click works until the site is deleted.
Do sites on a paid plan expire?
No. Sites on a paid plan never expire. Upgrading also brings an offline free site back straight away.
Does updating my site keep it online?
No — only the click in the email or the “Keep online” button in the dashboard starts a new 30 days. Updates, sign-ins and visits do not.
My free site is older than this rule. Does it expire?
No. Free sites published before this rule started stay online as before, with no renewal emails.
Does an offline site still count towards my site limit?
Yes, until it is deleted. To publish a different site sooner, delete the offline one from the dashboard, or upgrade for more sites.
